When it comes to extinguishing some of the world's most challenging flammable liquid tank and process fires, Williams are No. 1. List of incidents dealt with since 1980
Williams are uniquely placed as they are both hands-on firefighters and manufacturers of innovative firefighting products.
Products such as Thunderstorm foam, Battler and Ambassador monitors, Hydrochem branches and high volume mobile pumps are the effective tools in Petro-chem firefighting.
All but one of the UK's refineries now has at least some of their equipment to deal with large scale tank fires. The Buncefield explosion and fire was yet another landmark incident demonstrating the value of effective mobile equipment.
To quote Barry Browning, ex Fire Chief at Esso Fawley Refinery, following his full scale training exercise, “This was clearly a successful exercise, objectives achieved, demonstrating how critical it is for pre-planning and to understand the logistics involved dealing with a storage tank full surface fire.”
