Pillar Hydrants

Ansul LogoFiremain Engineering are pleased to offer American pattern above ground pillar hydrants. The well known Pacer, American-Darling and Waterous brands from American Flow Control offer a comprehensive range of configurations to deal with different ground conditions and jurisdictions.

Petrochem facilities in general often use pillar hydrants as they offer more immediate above ground access to water supplies than conventional UK pattern underground hydrants. Many of our industrial customers are either American owned or have insurers working to American design codes such as NFPA so they will also specify pillar hydrants.

On large complexes, the use of high volume fire hoses combined with the larger Stortz couplings means that a dedicated firewater supply is best optimized by using pillar hydrants with suitable connections. This is no problem for American Flow Control hydrants – just give us a call to discuss your specification.

The Waterous Pacer’s sleek and stylish design blends perfectly with today’s modern architecture. The Pacer is rated for 250 p.s.i.g. and exceeds all of the requirements of AWWA C502. Ductile iron construction assures strength and durability. Introduced in 1967, the Pacer fire hydrant provides real solutions to today’s system demands. With maintenance personnel at a premium, it is important to note that the Pacer hydrant can be maintained by just one person. The removal of four nuts and bolts allows access to all working parts. The Pacer hydrant has all the features you expect from a high-quality fire hydrant. The all bronze valve seat and bronze seat insert ensure that the Pacer hydrant remains easy to repair. The Pacer has been manufactured for more than 35 years while still maintaining complete parts interchangeability.

The American-Darling mark 73-5 comes with UL-FM approval and has these standard features:

  • Positive compression, fast-closing drains
  • Travel stop located in top of hydrant
  • Bronze-to-bronze seating
  • Short, lightweight disassembly wrench
  • Easy 360° rotation of nozzle section
  • All 6” bases are ductile iron
  • High-strength ductile iron construction
  • Sealed lubrication chamber
